Upper Makefield Township Zoning Hearing Board

The Zoning Hearing Board hears and acts on applications for variances from the zoning ordinances, special exceptions and challenges to the validity of the zoning ordinance.

When a property owner wishes to build a structure, establish a use on a property or add any additional features, a zoning permit is required. If the use requested is not listed in the Zoning Ordinance the owner may apply for permission by appealing to the Zoning Hearing Board.

After an application is received by the Code Enforcement Department, a hearing date is established. The Zoning Hearing Board generally meet the fourth (4th) Tuesday of each month as needed.

Hearing Schedule:

Subject to demand, the Upper Makefield Township Zoning Hearing Board will hold hearings at the Township Building, located at 1076 Eagle Road, Newtown, PA 18940 at 7:30 p.m. Please check the website under Zoning Hearing Board Notices for hearing dates.
