Chief of Police - Mark Schmidt

Chief Schmidt has been with the Upper Makefield Township P.D. since 1980. He has a B.S. Degree in Police Science, M.S. Degree in Criminal Justice and training in all fields of police work. Chief Schmidt is also committed to the Department's Accreditation Program. His spare time is spent with his wife Deborah and their children, Mark Jr. and Heather. Chief Schmidt is also an active member of the Upper Makefield Township Bussiness Association and the Upper Makefield Township Historical Society

Officer William Slobodin

Officer Slobodin started in law enforcement as a Department Store Detective. Choosing to make police work a career he began working in Upper Makefield. He attended college part-time and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Trenton State College. Training includes crime scenes, finger prints and photography. He received several commendations for burglary investigations. In his spare time, Officer Slobodin enjoys bicycling, hiking, and travel.

Sergeant Richard Kraus

Rich has been with Upper Makefield P.D. since 1998. He enjoys all aspects of police work, but specializes in computer and Internet related crime. Rich is also a field training officer and the department's evidence custodian. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Corporal Tim Rauch

Tim holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Tim started his police career in New Hope Borough in 1998. Tim has been with the Upper Makefield Township P.D. for five years. Tim has received specialized training in crime scene investigation, evidence collection, evidence processing, analytical investigative techniques, and interviewing. Tim enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and working out.

Officer Scott Duckworth

Scott graduated in 2002 from Penn State University with a B.S. Degree in criminal justice. In 2004 he graduated from Montgomery County Municipal Police Academy and started his career with Upper Makefield Township in April of 2004.

Detective Patricia Haines

Pat has been with UMTPD since 1986. She is a graduate of Temple University with a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice. An accomplished investigator, she specializes in economic crimes. In her spare time she enjoys scuba diving with her husband, Mark.

Officer Tom Koehler

Tom has been a police officer since 1994. He is involved with the Concerns of Police Survivors run from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. He was a member of the 2002 Utah Olympics Public Safety Command. He enjoys adventure racing and spending time with his family.

Sergeant Patrick M. Durkin

Pat started his career in Law Enforcement with the Wildwood, NJ Police in 1994 and obtained his B.S. Degree from Penn State University in Administration of Justice. Pat has been with this police department since 1997 and was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2002. He is a Field Training Officer and is part of the Upper Makefiel Crime Prevention Unit. In his spare time, Pat enjoys weight lifting, sports and spending time with his wife Megan and daughters Dana and Tara.

Officer Lauren Nelson

Lauren graduated with a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Alvernia College in Reading, PA. She is a special County detective, crime prevention officer and a certified child saftey seat technician. She has been with the department since 2000.

Corporal Daniel Jones

Daniel obtained a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice/Police Administration from Temple University. Dan has been with this department since 2000. He is an Accident Reconstructionist, a Crime Prevention Officer and is involved with the Department's Accreditation Program. In his spare time, Dan enjoys football, baseball, weight lifting, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.

"Mack" Mackiewicz started his police career in 1983. Since that time he has served in numerous capacities stemming from Patrolman to Sergeant with local, state and federal agencies. Currently "Mack" is the coordinator of the Buck's County Motor Carrier Traffic Safety Task Force. This specialized unit operates throughout the region combining the local law enforcement and other state agencies. Armed with high tech equipment, manpower and expertise this unit conducts commercial vehicle enforcement including roadside safety inspections-weight and measures.

Crime Dog McGruff

McGruff has been assisting Police in the fight against crime since 1980. He arrived in Upper Makefield Township in 1999 with the assistance of the Bucks County Police Association. McGruff enjoys helping Officers in Upper Makefield with teaching the public on matters of health and safety. In his spare time, Mcgruff likes to play ball and spend time with his nephew Scruff.
