If anyone requires accommodation in order to participate in a meeting of the Township Board of Supervisors or any of its Boards or Commissions, that said individual should contact the Township Offices either via phone, in writing or email within 48 hours prior to a scheduled meeting.
The Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of a disability in employment practices and policies or the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by Upper Makcfield Township.
The complaint should be in writing and contain information about the alleged discrimination such as name, address, phone number and complainant and location, date and description of the problem. Alternative means of filing complaints, such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint, will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request.
The complaint should be submitted by the grievant and/or his/her designee as soon as possible but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation to the ADA Coordinator:

Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the complaint, the ADA coordinator or his designee will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. Within 15 calendar days after the meeting, the ADA coordinator or his designee will respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the complainant, such as large print. Braille, or audio tape. The response will explain the position of Upper Makefield Township and offer options for substantive resolution of the complaint. This time period may be extended by a letter to the complainant if additional time is necessary to investigate the complaint setting forth the date by which a response will be given.
In the investigation and resolution of a complaint, the ADA coordinator shall have the authorization to retain the services of professionals as needed in order to properly assess and address each complaint.
If the response by the ADA coordinator or his designee does not satisfactorily resolve the issue, the complainant and/or his/her designee may appeal the decision of the ADA coordinator within l5 calendar days after receipt of the response to the Board of Supervisors.
Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the appeal, Board of Supervisors will designate a committee of three persons to meet witl1 the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. Within an additional 15 calendar days the committee will schedule a meeting with the complainant and promptly thereafter the chairman of the committee will respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the complainant, with a final resolution of the complaint.
All written complaints received by the ADA coordinator, appeals to the Board of Supervisors, and responses from the ADA coordinator and the committee appointed by the Board of Supervisors will be kept by Upper Makefield Township for at least three years.
