New Upper Makefield Township Supervisor Mary Ryan was officially sworn into office on Wednesday July 21 during the Board of Supervisors regular meeting.
Ryan, a Washington Crossing resident since 1991, was appointed by the board to fill a vacancy by Dave Kulig, who resigned in June.
Ryan was showered with applause after she took her oath of office, where she swore to, “support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
As reported by BucksLocalNews.com Ryan said she will proudly “represent the people of Upper Makefield in a fair and honest way. I want to make sure there is a line of communications between the citizens and the township.”
A former Vice President of Merchandising and Design for London Fog, Inc., Ryan has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Design from Philadelphia University (formerly Philadelphia College of Textiles). She has been married to her husband, John Paul, for 24 years and is the proud mother of two sons: John, 18 and Sam, 16.
Ryan will represent the board at the planning commission, where she has been a member since 2004.
In the coming months, Ryan says she will be committed to addressing the township’s number one issue: Act 537 sewage facilities plan.
