Recycling & HHW

According to the EPA, about 80 percent of what Americans throw away is recyclable. By taking a few extra seconds to sort out recyclables, you can bring that percentage down to zero. Find out more from your private trash hauler about recycling, and use Bucks County’s Household Hazardous Waste and Old Computer Collection program to keep your trash output low.


Home Recycling

Township residents are required at a minimum to recycle:

  • Glass Containers: clear, green, and brown glass bottles & jars
  • Bimetal Containers & Aluminum Cans: rinsed beverage and food containers
  • Plastic Containers: plastics #1 and #2, additional plastics depending on the hauler

In addition, residents are required to either compost leaves or arrange for disposal separate from trash with their private hauler or drop-off location.

Check with your hauler or homeowners association for specific recycling capabilities, schedule, and separation requirements. Your hauler may collect more than the minimum recycling items listed.

Commercial & Institutional Recycling

Township businesses are required at a minimum to recycle:

  • High grade office paper
  • Aluminum cans
  • Corrugated paper

Businesses are also encouraged to recycle plastic and glass containers as provided by their hauler.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Bucks County runs a Household Hazardous Waste and Old Computer Collection program once a month from May through December each year. Visit the county website for the schedule. HHW items that should not be thrown in regular trash include:
